Band Staff


Amir Jones, Director

Mr. Jones is a Painesville native, and has lived in the area his entire life. He grew up in Concord Township and graduated Riverside High School. He attended Lakeland Community College and Cleveland State University. He has a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Cum Laude) degree.

Mr. Jones joined the Harvey Band staff in 2007, first as an Assistant Marching and Concert Band Director, then as a Co-Band Director, and is now the High School Band Director. 


Mr. Jones currently directs the following ensembles: Concert Band, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Pep Band. In addition to Band classes, Mr Jones also teaches Piano and Music Technology and is the Harvey High School AV Coordinator. 

Mr. Jones' professional affiliations include: the Ohio Music Education Association, the National Association for Music Educators, the Lake County Music Educators Association, the Painesville Community Theater, and the Lake County Branch NAACP. Mr. Jones also serves as a pianist for First Church Congregational and choir director and pianist at St. John Baptist Church in Painesville. 


David Amos, Assistant Director

Mr. Amos has served as Director of Bands at Heritage Middle School and Assistant Director for The Harvey Red Raider Marching Band since 2015.  Previously, he served as Director of Bands and Choirs at David Anderson Jr./Sr. High School In Lisbon, Ohio from 2010-2015.  

In May, 2010, Mr. Amos earned a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis on Instrumental Music Education from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University.  He is a native of Lake County and was graduated from Mentor High School in 2006. 

Mr. Amos also serves Malachi House as a member of the Associate Board.  Malachi House, located on the west-side of Cleveland, is a nonprofit organization that provides housing for impoverished people with terminal diagnoses on Hospice care.  Mr. Amos' professional memberships include, the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals, the Ohio Music Education Association, NAfME, and LCMEA. 


Kim Hildack, Assistant Director

Ms. Hildack is originally from the Warren area. She has a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Grove City College and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Cleveland State University. 

Ms. Hildack began her teaching career in the New London school district and the Vocal and General Music Director. She joined Harvey High School as the Vocal Music Director. In addition to Vocal Music, she was a Co-Band Director from 2010-2012 and is currently the Assistant Band Director. 

Ms. Hildack currently directs the following ensembles: 7th Grade Choir, 8th Grade Choir, Prep Choir, and Concert Choir. 

In addition to the above-mention courses, Ms. Hildack is also the Fall Play Director, Spring Musical Director, and Fine Arts Department Head.

 


Nate Ferron, Assistant Marching Band Director

Mr. Ferron is a Painesville native, and has lived in the area his entire life. He grew up in Painesville Township and graduated from Riverside High School. He attended Ashland University and has a Bachelors Degree in Integrated Mathematics Education. 

Mr. Ferron joined the Harvey Band Staff in 2012 and is currently an Assistant Marching Band Director. 

Mr. Ferron currently teaches Algebra.  


Johnathen McClain, Assistant Marching Band Director/Percussion Advisor

Mr. McClain is a Painesville native, and has lived in the area his entire life. He grew up in Painesville City and graduated from Harvey High School. Mr. McClain is currently completing his Criminal Justice degree at Bryant & Stratton College.

Mr. McClain joined the Harvey Band Staff as an Assistant Percussion Advisor, and is now the Percussion Advisor and an Assistant Marching Band Director. 


Kelsey Smith, Flag Advisor

Ms. Smith is a Mentor native, and has lived there her entire life. She grew up in Mentor and graduated from Mentor High School. Ms. Smith is currently completing her degree at Lakeland Community College. 

Ms. Smith joined the Harvey Band Staff as the Flag Advisor in 2011. 


Maggie Runyon, Dance Advisor 

Ms. Runyon is a Painesville Township native and has lived here her entire life. She grew up in Painesville Township and Graduated from Riverside High School. Ms. Runyon has a Bachelors Degree in Dance and is currently serving as our Dance Team Advisor.
